Description
Panama Province SeRum Puente Centenario is a Panamanian ron distilled in 2004 and bottled at 16 years old, made on a column still from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon casks at 40%. Panama is one of the great soft-rum origins, much of it flowing from Varela Hermanos, and the regional signature is a mellow, vanilla-and-spice profile.
At sixteen years this should carry good oak influence, with the vanilla, light caramel and gentle spice typical of well-aged Panama ron. The sugar status is not disclosed, so while some examples in this style carry dosage, expect overall a smooth, rounded sipper that leans on age and barrel rather than bold spirit character. A mature, easy-drinking expression of the Panamanian house style.
