Long Pond Plantation Extreme No. 4 ITP 2000

This 20 Year Old Long Pond, bottled by Maison Ferrand in its Plantation Extreme line under the ITP marque, comes from the historic Trelawny Wedderburn house known for funky, fruit-forward rum. At two decades old the spirit has mellowed into something smoother and more polished than the distillery's wilder bottlings, distilled from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon before bottling at cask strength.

The nose is honeyed and fruity with pineapple and spice, the palate turns toward cocoa, coffee and tropical fruit in a balanced frame, and the finish is fruity and warm with vanilla and a coffee note. Bottled at 52.1% and unsweetened, it offers Jamaican character in an elegant, fruit-heavy package, the funk present but gentle and the fruit explosive. This is a neat sipper for drinkers who want Long Pond's personality with the edges smoothed by long ageing.
