Glen Keith 30 Years Old 1992 Cask #120606 (LMDW)

From the bottler La Maison du Whisky, a 30 year old Glen Keith, distilled in 1992, from cask 120606, bottled at 50.3%, one of 162 bottles. Glen Keith is a fruity Speyside single malt from the Chivas stable at Keith. Its make went largely into the Chivas Regal, Passport and 100 Pipers blends.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in tall, narrowing stills, building the fresh Glen Keith style. First fill bourbon gave a fuller vanilla and a touch of coconut from the lactones. Ethereal and fragile, decades draw the light malt to a honeyed, waxy delicacy of sotolon, tropical fruit and old oak. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. The clean, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. It was the first distillery in Scotland to use gas fired direct heating. Much of the Glen Keith make went to the blenders, a little kept as single malt.

At 50.3%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Pear, melon and a light honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Pear, citrus and a creamy vanilla fill the middle. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
