Glen Keith 20 Years Old 1993 Cask #97099 (Blackadder)

The bottler Blackadder bottled this Glen Keith, a 20 year old, distilled in 1993, from cask 97099, bottled at 56.2%, one of 162 bottles. Glen Keith is a clean, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Keith in Moray. It sits within sight of Strathisla, the oldest distillery in Scotland.

It was distilled from unpeated malt in tall, narrowing stills, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the fruit. Through oxidative maturity esters concentrate, the apple turning honeyed and a soft tropical fruit creeping in. The clean, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. Its first permanent single malt was released in 2017, the Distillery Edition. The light, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and tropical fruit.

At its natural 56.2% it is concentrated. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Pear, citrus and a creamy vanilla fill the middle. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
