Glen Keith from the distillery, a 25 year old, cask Batch GK/001, at 43%. Glen Keith is a clean, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Keith in Moray. It was the first distillery in Scotland to use gas fired direct heating.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in tall, narrowing stills, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. At this evaporative stage ellagitannins lend a drying structure while oxidation builds a richer, tropical fruit. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards tropical fruit, honey and a soft spice. Its tall, narrowing stills give a light, fruity Speyside spirit. Maturation in the racked warehouses at Keith is slow and steady. The tall, narrowing stills give a light spirit that takes the cask well. The light, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore.

Reduced to 43%, it is mellow. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is the light, fresh malt of Keith.
