This official Singleton of Dufftown, at 40%. Dufftown is a nutty, spicy Speyside malt, for decades the heart of the Bell's blend. Eight warehouses on site hold close to 100,000 casks of maturing malt.

It was distilled for the nutty, malty character Dufftown is known for, giving the smooth, approachable Speyside spirit. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. With no age statement, the oak has given vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over the nutty, malty spirit. The clean, grassy spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and honey to the fore. Water from Jock's Well and a long ferment give the clean Dufftown make. It was founded in 1895 within a former meal mill by Peter Mackenzie and his partners. Its spirit stills are larger than its wash stills, unusual among Scottish distilleries. The Singleton style leans on a mix of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry oak.

At 40% it is smooth and nutty. A smooth, nutty Speyside fruit, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is smooth, the fruit carried on a malty body. The close is smooth, fruit over a gentle, spicy oak. This is a Speyside single malt of real character.
