Description
A 30 year old Dufftown, a distillery bottling, at 47.5%. Dufftown is a Speyside malt built for the blender's art and now bottled as a single malt in its own right. Its water is drawn from Jock's Well, an artesian spring in the Conval Hills.
The spirit was distilled from unpeated Speyside malt in the distillery's six stills, building the smooth Dufftown style. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the nutty spirit lead. Ethereal and fragile, decades draw the malt to a honeyed, nutty delicacy of sotolon and old oak. The Singleton style leans on a mix of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry oak. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt. The clean, grassy spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and honey to the fore. The Singleton of Dufftown is matured in a mix of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry oak. The slow distillation gives a smooth spirit that takes well to the cask.
At a natural 47.5% it is full and nutty. A smooth, nutty Speyside fruit, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. The close is smooth, fruit over a gentle, spicy oak. This is Dufftown, a heart malt of the Bell's blend.
