Description
This official Dufftown, an 8 year old, at 40%. Dufftown is a Speyside malt built for the blender's art and now bottled as a single malt in its own right. Its single malt has been sold as The Singleton of Dufftown since 2006, mainly in the UK and Europe.
It was made on Conval Hills water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a soft, nutty, fruit driven make. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) over the nutty spirit. Maturation in the eight Dufftown warehouses is slow and steady. Built for the blender's art, the spirit ages with grace as a single malt. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Dufftown warehouses. The Singleton style leans on a mix of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry oak. Eight warehouses on site hold close to 100,000 casks of maturing malt.
Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. A malty, nutty sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is smooth and creamy, the fruit lifted by vanilla. The close is smooth, fruit over a gentle, spicy oak. This is a smooth, malty Speyside malt from the Conval Hills.
