Description
This official Singleton of Dufftown, a 12 year old, at 40%. Dufftown is a smooth, approachable Speyside malt from the town with the most distilleries in Scotland. It became the heart of the Bell's blend after Arthur Bell and Sons bought it in 1933.
It was distilled for the nutty, malty character Dufftown is known for, for a clean, malty Speyside spirit. Maturation came in a Pedro Ximenez cask, layered over the smooth Dufftown make. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the nutty, malty spirit growing rounder. The clean, grassy spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and honey to the fore. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple and malt deepening to honey. The malty, nutty spirit takes cask flavour well while keeping its Speyside fruit. Its single malt has been sold as The Singleton of Dufftown since 2006, mainly in the UK and Europe.
At an approachable 40% it is soft and easy. A smooth, nutty Speyside fruit, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. Pear, honey and a creamy malt fill the middle. Apple, nut and a soft oak see out the finish. This is the Singleton of Dufftown in single malt form.
