Dailuaine 5 Years Old AtB Darkness (Atom Brands)

This Dailuaine was bottled by the bottler Atom Brands, a 5 year old, bottled at 55.8%. Dailuaine is a full bodied Speyside malt of real depth, mostly bottled by independents. It had its own railway siding and a little locomotive, Dailuaine No.1, known as the Puggy.

The spirit was worked through the big stills for a meaty, malty spirit, building the heavy Dailuaine style. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanilla beneath the robust, full bodied spirit. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit rich, malty and full. Maturation in the cool north east keeps the rich spirit balanced over the years. The clean spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit over a rich malt. The name is Gaelic for the green vale, after the hollow in which the distillery sits. Dailuaine's heavy, malty make is prized by blenders for the body it gives.

At cask strength 55.8% it is full bodied. A robust, sherried maltiness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Dried fruit, malt and a savoury spice fill the middle. It finishes robust, malty and warm. This is a full bodied Speyside single malt of real depth.
