A Cambus single grain, selected and bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, a 24 year old release and bottled at 49.7%. A release of 319 bottles. Cambus was a founding distillery of DCL, making grain whisky in Clackmannanshire until it closed in 1993. Water came from the Lossburn Reservoir, the spirit drawn off two continuous Coffey stills.

The spirit was made in twin Coffey stills before the distillery closed, for a light, sweet make of real purity. A refill American oak cask held it, building the sweet, oily grain character. By twenty years and more the spirit is oily and dessert sweet. Patient ageing gives the oily, waxy texture prized in old single grain. Most surviving Cambus was distilled in the late 1980s and early 1990s, before the doors closed. Grain whisky like this gains coconut and toffee from decades in active oak. The light, sweet grain takes on a deep, oily richness over many years.

At a full 49.7% it is intense yet sweet. The ex-Bourbon gives crème brûlée, coconut and vanilla. A crème brûlée and a polished oak give it depth. A long, oily finish carries a coconut lift. This is a rare single grain from a lost grain distillery.
