Description
An official Glasgow Distillery single malt, aged 5 year old from 2020, drawn from cask 20/1379 & 20/1380 and bottled at 59.3%. Just 652 bottles were filled. The Glasgow Distillery Company opened in Hillington in 2012, the first malt distillery in Glasgow since 1902. The first malt casks were filled in 2015, and the first single malt was released in 2018.
Made in copper stills for the fresh, fruity house make, for a fruity, vibrant make. A bourbon cask held it, keeping the fruit to the fore. Short, warm maturation in active casks defines the young Glasgow style. A young distillery, it leans on active wood to bring its whisky to life quickly. It was named Scottish Distillery of the Year in 2020. The make is bright and fruity, a modern, metropolitan take on Lowland malt. Production has grown year on year as demand for Glasgow malt has risen. The Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2012, the first malt distillery in Glasgow in over a century.
At a full 59.3% it is bold and fruity. Pear, vanilla and a citrus lift lead, and the ex-Bourbon lends vanilla, honey and a soft apple. A vanilla and a gentle spice give it depth. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers. This is the 1770 single malt of Glasgow.
