Description
A Rosebank single malt, selected and bottled by Bristol Brandy Company Ltd matured to 8 year old, from 1983 and bottled at 43%. The Lowland Rosebank, built in 1840 on the banks of the canal in the central Lowlands, was silenced in 1993. Its triple distilled malt became a Lowland legend.
The spirit was run three times through copper pot stills, then cooled in worm tubs, for a light, ester rich spirit with unusual body. Ex-Bourbon casks held the spirit, soft oak that lets the florals lead. At this age the spirit is bright and floral, the citrus and grass fresh. Time in the cask deepens the delicate spirit into honey, tropical fruit and beeswax. The closed era stock is finite, and every bottle drawn is one fewer left. Rosebank stood on the Forth and Clyde Canal, which once carried its casks to market. The pairing of triple distillation and worm tubs was unique to Rosebank among Scotch distilleries.
Reduced to 43%, it is mellow. A delicate floral, waxy depth sit alongside soft vanilla and honey from the cask. It is clean and elegant, the grassy spirit shining through. Lemon, honey and oak draw out the close. This is a rare survivor of the 1993 closure.
