This Rosebank, an official release, a 12 year old Lowland malt, and bottled at 43%. Rosebank, opened in 1840 at Falkirk, on the Lowland canal side, was closed in 1993 and long mourned. Triple distillation and worm tub condensers, a pairing unique to Rosebank, gave the malt its elegant yet weighty style.

Drawn off after a third distillation and condensed slowly in worm tubs, the make took the Rosebank style. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. At a youthful age the florals are lively and the fruit clean. Worm tub condensers slow the copper contact, lending a fuller body to the light Lowland spirit. The 108 foot chimney remained a Falkirk landmark through the long silent decades. Its final vintages of the early 1990s are among the most sought after of all Lowland malts. The malt was matured slowly in the temperate Lowland climate before bottling.

At an approachable 43% it is delicate and balanced. A delicate floral, waxy depth sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. It is clean and elegant, the grassy spirit shining through. A delicate, fruity finish lingers long. This is a revered triple distilled malt from a distillery silent for thirty years.
