Mortlach 12 Years Old 2008 Cask #800122 (Signatory Vintage)

Signatory Vintage, the Edinburgh independent founded in 1988, released this 12 Year Old, a 2008 vintage from cask 800122, an outturn of 230 bottles. Mortlach is Speyside's great meaty malt, its 1823 Dufftown stillhouse using worm tubs and a 2.81 distillation that defies the region's lighter norm.

Across twelve years in American oak, esterification got underway and the meaty spirit rounded, vanilla and light toffee folding in.

At 56.2% it shows citrus, honey and an oak-framed depth over the oily Mortlach weight, undiluted. A Beast of Dufftown.
