Mortlach 50 Years Old, a rich, meaty Speyside single malt in an Oloroso at 50.7% from Gordon & MacPhail. Worm-tub weight and a savoury, full-bodied depth.
Only 1 left in stock
Description
Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin, whose deep stocks include some of the oldest Mortlach in existence, selected this 50 Year Old: a 1969 vintage, cask 92001201, an outturn of 365 bottles. Mortlach, long the muscular heart of the Johnnie Walker blends, draws its meaty depth from low-copper worm tubs and a 2.81-times distillation regime.
By fifty years the sherry, oxidation and evaporation had taken the meaty spirit to its limit, dried fruit and leather worn deep and soft.
At 50.7% it shows dried fruit, leather and polished oak on Mortlach's muscular frame, undiluted. Mortlach at full weight.
