Gordon & MacPhail, the Elgin house founded in 1895, has bottled Miltonduff as a single malt for generations. This Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength 15 Year Old is a 2008 vintage from Oloroso cask 900365, an outturn of 528 bottles at a powerful strength. Miltonduff, a light, floral Speyside from near Elgin, its spirit long destined for the Ballantine's blend.

Fifteen years in Oloroso deepened Miltonduff's light spirit into figgy, baked dried fruit, oxidation and ellagitannin structure adding a polished-oak grip. A cool Speyside warehouse held the pace gentle and steady.

At 63.4% it shows fresh fruit, chocolate, citrus, cooked fruit, an oily texture and old wood, undiluted. A 2008 Connoisseurs Choice 15.
