Description

Murray McDavid bottled this 1990 Lagavulin for The Syndicate's, a 14 year old ex-Bourbon release, bottled in 2004 for Europe. The distillery has occupied Lagavulin Bay since 1816, near the ruins of Dunyvaig Castle.

The malt is heavily peated, the spirit drawn slowly off the stills. Matured in ex-Bourbon, fourteen years carry a vivid smoke.

Bottled at 46%. Guaiacol and other phenols power the smoke, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla. A rare independent Syndicate's Lagavulin.
