Description

This is a recent Distillers Edition without a stated vintage, bottled in 2022 and finished in Pedro Ximenez, the current form of Lagavulin's long-running sherry-finished series. Founded in 1816, Lagavulin sits among the famous trio of southern Islay distilleries.

Long fermentation and slow distillation shape the heavy peated spirit. Following the first maturation it went into Pedro Ximenez casks made from sun-dried grapes.

Bottled at 43%. Guaiacol and phenols carry the maritime smoke, the Pedro Ximenez bringing raisin, date and treacle. Tasting notes take in an oily texture, a sherried character, smoke, citrus, dried fruit and leather. The current PX Distillers Edition.
