Description

This marked the 2018 Islay Jazz Festival for Lagavulin, matured in European oak, an outturn of 6,000 bottles. The distillery dates to 1816, on the rocky south shore of Islay at Lagavulin Bay.

Slow distillation gives the peated make its weight. Matured in European oak at full strength, the sherry-seasoned wood adds dried fruit to the smoke.

58.5%, the cask's own strength. Guaiacol and other phenols power the smoke, the European oak giving dried fruit. Tasting notes take in chocolate, dried fruit, a nutty note, smoke, citrus and fresh fruit. A sherried jazz festival edition.
