Description

This Distillery Exclusive, Batch 01, is a cask strength Lagavulin matured in ex-Bourbon and American oak, sold at the distillery, an outturn of 7,506 bottles released in 2023. Established in 1816, Lagavulin sits in a quiet bay on the south of Islay.

The heavily peated make comes off the stills slowly, gaining body. Matured in ex-Bourbon and American oak at full strength, the wood gives vanilla beneath the smoke.

At its natural strength of 56.5%. The phenols, guaiacol among them, drive the smoke, the oak giving vanilla. Tasting notes take in smoke, dried fruit, a nutty note, fresh fruit, leather and an oily texture. A distillery exclusive Lagavulin.
