Description

This 26 Years Old was a 2021 Special Release, double matured in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso, an outturn of 7,542 bottles. One of Islay's south-coast distilleries, Lagavulin was founded in 1816.

Lagavulin runs its pear-shaped stills slowly for a heavy, peated spirit. Matured in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso casks, more than two decades wrap a mellowed smoke in deep sherry.

Bottled at 44.2%. Peat phenols and guaiacol carry the smoke, the Pedro Ximenez giving raisin and date, the Oloroso fig. Tasting notes take in honey, a sherried character and smoke. A deep sherried older Special Release.
