Lagavulin 22 Years Old

This 22 Years Old was Lagavulin's bottling for the Islay Jazz Festival in 2020, a cask strength release of 2,004 bottles matured in European oak. Lagavulin was built in 1816 on the bay that gives it its name, on southern Islay.

The spirit is heavily peated and distilled at a deliberate, slow pace. Matured in European oak at full strength, twenty-two years build a deep, sherried smoke.

Bottled at full strength, 52.6%. The smoke is carried by guaiacol and phenols, the European oak adding dried fruit and a dry grip. The recorded notes run to a coal-gas mineral edge and a malt extract note. A mature sherried festival Lagavulin.
