Lagavulin The Distillers Edition 15 Years Old 2005

This 2005 Distillers Edition was bottled in 2020 at fifteen years old, finished in Oloroso. Lagavulin, in a sheltered bay on southern Islay, was founded in 1816 and is one of Diageo's flagship Islay malts.

The peated spirit is distilled slowly, the still shape adding weight. After its first maturation it was finished in Oloroso casks for dried-fruit depth.

Bottled at 43%. Guaiacol and phenols carry the maritime smoke, the Oloroso adding fig and raisin with a nutty edge. Tasting notes take in dried fruit, a medicinal edge, smoke, chocolate, a sherried character and tobacco. An Oloroso-finished Distillers Edition.
