Description

This 2002 Distillers Edition was bottled in 2018 at sixteen years old, an Oloroso-finished vintage. Lagavulin, on the Kildalton shore of southern Islay, was founded in 1816 and is one of the island's most famous distilleries.

Slow distillation through the pear-shaped stills gives a deep, smoky spirit. Its second maturation came in Oloroso casks for dried-fruit depth.

Bottled at 43%. Phenols and guaiacol carry the maritime peat, the Oloroso adding fig and raisin with a walnut dryness. Tasting notes take in dried fruit, smoke, tobacco, chocolate, leather and a medicinal edge. An Oloroso-finished Distillers Edition.
