Description

This 1997 Distillers Edition was bottled in 2013 at sixteen years old, a PX-finished vintage in the series. The distillery dates from 1816, set in a sheltered bay on southern Islay.

A long, slow distillation through onion-shaped stills shapes the peated make. After spending its first years in oak it was finished in Pedro Ximenez casks made from sun-dried grapes.

Bottled at 43%. The maritime smoke comes from guaiacol and phenols, the PX bringing raisin and fig. Tasting notes take in fresh fruit, smoke, dried fruit, honey, a malt extract note and a medicinal edge. A PX-finished Distillers Edition.
