Description
This 19 Years Old was Lagavulin's Feis Ile bottling for 2014, distilled in 1995 and matured in European oak and Oloroso, an outturn of 3,500 bottles. The distillery was established in 1816 beside Lagavulin Bay, near Dunyvaig Castle.
Lagavulin's peated spirit is run slowly off the stills for weight. Matured in European oak and Oloroso at full strength, nineteen years of smoke meet a deep sherry.
Bottled without dilution at 54.7%. Guaiacol leads the phenols behind the smoke, the Oloroso giving fig and raisin. Tasting notes take in a cooked vegetable note, honey, a leafy lift, an oily texture, old wood and a rubbery edge. A sherried festival vintage.
