Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival 2013 18 Years Old 1995

This 18 Years Old marked the 2013 Islay Jazz Festival for Lagavulin, distilled in 1995 and matured in Oloroso, an outturn of 1,500 bottles. Lagavulin dates from 1816, tucked into a bay between Laphroaig and Ardbeg.

Lagavulin's slow distillation builds the depth its malt is known for. Matured in Oloroso at full strength, the sherry wraps eighteen years of smoke in dried fruit.

At cask strength, 51.9%. Phenolic compounds drive the peat smoke, the Oloroso giving fig and raisin with a walnut dryness. Tasting notes take in a medicinal edge, a nutty note, a sherried character and smoke. A sherried jazz festival edition.
