Lagavulin Limited Edition 12 Years Old 1995

This Limited Edition 12 Years Old was distilled in 1995 and matured in Oloroso, bottled in 2008. The distillery dates to 1816, on the rocky south shore of Islay.

The malt is heavily peated, the spirit drawn slowly off the stills. Matured in Oloroso at full strength, the sherry wraps twelve years of smoke in dried fruit.

Bottled at 48%. The smoke comes off the phenols and guaiacol, the Oloroso giving fig and raisin. Tasting notes take in leather, a sherried character, a medicinal edge, old wood, smoke and cooked fruit. A sherried limited edition Lagavulin.
