Description
This 18 Years Old was bottled for Feis Ile 2013, distilled in 1995 and matured in European oak and Oloroso, an outturn of 3,000 bottles. The distillery dates from 1816, set at Lagavulin Bay on Islay's south shore.
Lagavulin's slow distillation builds the depth its malt is known for. Matured in European oak and Oloroso at full strength, the sherry wraps eighteen years of smoke in dried fruit.
At cask strength, 51%. Phenols and guaiacol carry the peat smoke, the Oloroso and European oak giving fig and raisin. The recorded note is fresh fruit over the smoke. A sherried festival vintage.
