Lagavulin Select Cask 23 Years Old 1995

This 23 Years Old is a Lagavulin Select Cask, distilled in 1995 and drawn from European oak cask 9001, bottled in 2018 for Hong Kong, an outturn of 396 bottles. Lagavulin dates from 1816, tucked into a bay between Laphroaig and Ardbeg.

Lagavulin runs its pear-shaped stills slowly for a heavy, peated spirit. Matured in a single European oak cask at full strength, the sherry wraps two decades of smoke in dried fruit.

Bottled without dilution at 48.7%. The smoke comes off the phenols and guaiacol, the European oak giving fig and raisin. Tasting notes take in smoke, citrus, a kippery note and vanilla. A sherried mature Select Cask.
