Description

This 1991 Distillers Edition was bottled in 2008 at seventeen years old, a year on from the 2007 Oloroso release of the same vintage and finished instead in Pedro Ximenez. Founded in 1816, Lagavulin is the middle voice of southern Islay's peated trio.

Lagavulin's pot stills run slowly, building a dense peated character. After the initial maturation it was re-racked into Pedro Ximenez casks for a raisiny sweetness.

Bottled at 43%. Phenols and guaiacol carry the maritime peat, the PX wrapping it in raisin, fig and treacle. A PX-finished Distillers Edition, the older sibling of the 1991 Oloroso.
