Description
This 16 Years Old is an early bottling of the flagship under the White Horse Distillers Limited name, from around 1984, just before the 16 joined the Classic Malts and made Lagavulin famous. Lagavulin was founded in 1816 at Lagavulin Bay, between neighbours Laphroaig and Ardbeg.
Lagavulin was licensed under White Horse, the blend created around its malt in 1890. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, sixteen years build the deep, smoky character.
Bottled at 43%. Guaiacol and phenols give the maritime peat, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. The recorded note is smoke over the coastal depth. An early White Horse era 16.
