Description
This 16 Years Old is an old bottling of Lagavulin's flagship under the White Horse Distillers name, used on labels until the White Horse Royal Warrant was lost around 2000. A collectable vintage of the famous 16. Lagavulin dates from 1816, tucked into a bay between Laphroaig and Ardbeg.
Lagavulin was licensed under White Horse, the blend Peter Mackie created in 1890 around the distillery's malt. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, sixteen years build the deep, smoky character the 16 is known for.
Bottled at 43%. Guaiacol and phenols give the maritime peat, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. The recorded notes run to a medicinal edge, smoke, fresh fruit, a mossy note, a dry sandy edge and citrus. A vintage White Horse era 16.
