Description

This 13 Years Old was Lagavulin's bottling for the Islay Jazz Festival in 2021, a cask strength release of 3,000 bottles. Lagavulin, on the Kildalton shore of southern Islay, was founded in 1816 and is one of Diageo's flagship Islay malts.

Lagavulin's pot stills run slowly, building a dense peated character. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks at full strength, thirteen years build depth while keeping the smoke vivid.

54.8%, the cask's own strength. Guaiacol leads the phenols behind the smoke, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. Tasting notes take in citrus, a mossy note, new wood, a sherried character, smoke and a kippery maritime edge. A festival cask strength Lagavulin.
