Lagavulin 12 Years Old (Feis Ile 2022)

This 12 Years Old was Lagavulin's release for Feis Ile, the Islay festival, in 2022, a cask strength bottling of 6,336 bottles. Lagavulin, at Lagavulin Bay between Laphroaig and Ardbeg, was founded in 1816 and draws crowds to the festival each year.

The peated spirit is distilled slowly, the still shape adding weight. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks and bottled at full strength, twelve years give a vivid, direct dram.

Bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.7%. The smoke owes to guaiacol and phenols, the ex-Bourbon giving vanilla and citrus, the full strength sharpening both. Tasting notes take in new wood, citrus, smoke, a malt extract note, a medicinal edge and a mossy note. A festival cask strength Lagavulin.
