Description

The cask strength 12 Years Old appeared as the 2007 Special Release. Lagavulin sits at its namesake bay on Islay's south coast, founded in 1816, its annual undiluted 12 a regular companion to the 16.

Lagavulin's peated spirit is run slowly off the stills for weight. Bottled undiluted after twelve years in ex-Bourbon, it offers a fierce, direct smoke.

At cask strength, 56.4%. The smoke comes off the phenols and guaiacol, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. A cask strength Special Release.
