Description

The cask strength 12 Years Old appeared as the 2009 Special Release. Lagavulin sits on the Kildalton shore of southern Islay, founded in 1816 and famed for its smoke.

The malt is heavily peated, the spirit drawn slowly off the stills. Matured twelve years in ex-Bourbon and bottled undiluted for a vivid, direct dram.

Bottled without dilution at 57.9%. Guaiacol and phenols drive the maritime smoke, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. A cask strength Special Release.
