Knockdhu anCnoc peatheart Cask #Batch 2

Peatheart is the heavily peated anCnoc, the smokiest expression from Knockdhu distillery at Knock in Banffshire, this the second batch. At roughly 40ppm it goes well beyond the distillery's standard peated range. Knockdhu, founded in 1894 and named anCnoc to avoid confusion with Knockando, makes a normally light Highland spirit.

Reopened by Inver House in 1989, the distillery occasionally distils a heavily peated spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, the bourbon vanilla anchors the strong peat smoke.

Bottled at 46%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla while guaiacol and phenols drive the smoke. The recorded notes run to fresh fruit, honey and vanilla beneath the smoke. The heavily peated heart of anCnoc.
