Released through Hunter Laing's Old & Rare Magnum range, presenting the spirit in 1.5 litre magnum format rather than the standard 70cl bottle. The magnum format doubles the volume per bottle and halves the bottle count from any given cask, making each magnum a single cask presentation in larger format. Hunter Laing has used the magnum format selectively for premium single cask releases under both the Old & Rare programme and other sub labels.

Filled into refill American oak in 1991 during Allied Distillers's intermittent reopening and matured for twenty five years across the 1996 final closure, the 1997 Glenmorangie acquisition and the 2004 LVMH purchase. Bottled in 2016 at 51.2% ABV under the Hunter Laing imprint, non chill filtered, no added colour. Cask #HL 5750 carries the post 2013 Hunter Laing sequential numbering format.

Twenty five years of refill American oak maturation builds developed oak expression. Cis and trans oak lactones (coconut, oiled wood) reach expressive concentration, hemicellulose furans (furfural, HMF) deliver caramel and toasted almond, and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde layer vanilla and baking spice. The 1991 Allied era peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) have undergone substantial oxidative conversion across two and a half decades, shifting the smoke toward leather, tarred rope and bonfire ash. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature delivers concentrated tropical fruit beneath the phenolic core.
