Williamson 2012 Sb Xaver Bar Choice No. 7 (Sansibar)

Sansibar is a German independent tied to the famous bar of the same name on the island of Sylt, its single casks much sought after. The cask was filled in 2012 and bottled in 2022, a 10 year old Williamson. The Williamson name marks a teaspooned Laphroaig, a cask carrying a token spoonful of another malt that disqualifies the single-malt label. It honours Bessie Williamson, the first woman to own a Scotch distillery, who ran Laphroaig from 1954.

Matured in Oloroso, ten years wrap the medicinal Islay spirit in the cask's character.

Bottled at cask strength, 53.8%, the sherry cask gives dried fruit and a nutty edge. On the palate, a leafy lift.
