Williamson 2011 AM (Asta Morris) (Cask #AM 081)

Asta Morris is the single-cask house of Belgian bottler Bert Bruyneel. This 12 year old Williamson, from cask AM 081, was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2023. This is Williamson, the name independents use for teaspooned Laphroaig, a cask spiked with a token spoonful of another malt so it cannot carry the Laphroaig name. Bessie Williamson, who ran the distillery from 1954, lends the name.

Twelve years in Oloroso layer the cask onto Laphroaig's coastal, medicinal character.

At 54%, undiluted, with fig, walnut and dark raisin from the sherry. Expect chocolate, dried fruit, a kippery edge, a medicinal edge, a mossy note, a nutty note.
