Description
Wiener Hofburg is an Austrian sparkling wine label in the classic Viennese Sekt style, drawing on the country's typical white grapes led by Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling. It is a tank-method wine, with the second fermentation and fresh fruit held cool in stainless steel rather than aged for autolytic depth. The Trocken designation places it at the dry end of the scale, so the finish stays clean and refreshing while the grapes keep their bright, primary character.
The colour is bright straw with a fine, steady perlage. The nose is fresh, with green apple and pear over a lemony citrus edge and a light floral hint of white flowers and honeysuckle. The palate is dry and easy, with a soft mousse and a clean, gently fruity finish. Serve well chilled at around 6 to 8 degrees in a tulip glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside fresh seafood, green salads and lighter fish dishes.
