Single malt Tullibardine, released by Cadenhead's, aged 27 year old and bottled at 46%. Tullibardine was first built in 1949 at the foot of the Ochil Hills, and it is known for its wine cask finishes. The name is Gaelic for lookout hill, after a nearby hill once used to watch for approaching strangers.

Distilled in copper stills on Ochil Hills spring water, giving the light, fruity spirit at its heart. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. At this age it is rounded and mellow, the fruit folded into a honeyed body. A patient maturation suits the soft, honeyed Tullibardine character. King James IV is said to have bought ale at a Blackford brewery in 1488, on the site the distillery now occupies. Its water rises in the Ochil Hills, the same source that feeds the Highland Spring brand. After lean years and a long silence, private investors brought the distillery back to life in 2003.

Bottled at 46%, it is rounded. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla runs under apple, honey and a gentle spice. It is fruity and soft, the fruit and oak well matched. A long, honeyed finish carries a fruity lift. This is a honeyed Highland single malt from Perthshire.
