Description
This official Tullibardine single malt, a 15 year old and bottled at 43%. Tullibardine was founded in 1949 by William Delme-Evans in the southern Highlands near Gleneagles, and it stands on a site with five centuries of brewing. It was founded by the distillery architect William Delme-Evans, the first new distillery in Scotland after the war.
The spirit was run through the distillery's compact copper stills, to build a honeyed, malty character. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Past a decade the malt deepens into honey, toffee and a soft orchard fruit. The soft, fruity spirit takes a wine finish particularly well, in the Picard house style. Tullibardine was founded in 1949 by the architect William Delme-Evans, the first new distillery in post war Scotland. King James IV is said to have bought ale at a Blackford brewery in 1488, on the site the distillery now occupies. Its water rises in the Ochil Hills, the same source that feeds the Highland Spring brand.
At 43% it is smooth and honeyed. A soft, fruity vanilla meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Beneath it run honey, toffee and a soft spice. It closes soft, honeyed and warm. This is a soft, honeyed Highland single malt.
