Description
Bottled by Alistair Walker Whisky Company, this Tullibardine, a 10 year old Highland malt from 2012, drawn from cask 804981 and bottled at 58.7%. Just 260 bottles were filled. Opened in 1949 at the foot of the Ochil Hills, Tullibardine is a soft, honeyed Highland malt. Its malt also goes into the Highland Queen blend, another Picard brand.
Distilled in copper stills on Ochil Hills spring water, giving the light, fruity spirit at its heart. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, soft oak that lets the honeyed fruit lead. Younger here, it keeps a light, honeyed freshness over vanilla. The cool Highland climate gives a slow, even maturation over the years. Its water rises in the Ochil Hills, the same source that feeds the Highland Spring brand. After lean years and a long silence, private investors brought the distillery back to life in 2003. Picard is a Burgundy wine family, and their casks come from vineyards across France.
At a natural 58.7% it is full and honeyed. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla runs under apple, honey and a gentle spice. It is fruity and soft, the fruit and oak well matched. The finish runs gentle, fruity and mellow. This is a honeyed Highland single malt from Perthshire.
