Description
A distillery bottling of Tormore, aged 13 year old from 2012, drawn from cask 800313 and bottled at 52.3%. The outturn was 210 bottles. First built between 1958 and 1960 in Speyside, near the Cairngorms, Tormore is a grand Speyside distillery. The distillery is sometimes called the white cathedral of Speyside for its grand design.
Distilled on soft Speyside water through purifier stills, building the firm, clean Tormore style. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, soft oak that lets the nut and fruit lead. By this age the light spirit rounds into nutty fruit and a soft honey. Soft water off the granite hills gives a clean, ester driven make. The distillery sits near Grantown-on-Spey, in sight of the Cromdale Hills. Tormore is cleaner than the waxy Clynelish, with more weight than the lightest Speysiders. The new owners released a Blueprint Series of 10 year olds in 2025 ahead of a full range.
Undiluted at 52.3%, it is layered. Melon, nut and a grassy note sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. It is clean and structured, the nutty spirit shining through. It finishes clean, fresh and nutty. This is Tormore's clean, nutty Speyside style.
