Description
An official Tormore single malt, a 13 year old Speyside malt from 2012, drawn from cask 800338 and bottled at 60.6%. Only 240 bottles were released. Tormore, completed in 1960 in Speyside, near the Cairngorms, is one of Scotland's most striking distilleries. Water comes from the Achvochkie Burn, flowing off the granite hills above.
Distilled on soft Speyside water through purifier stills, building the firm, clean Tormore style. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, soft oak that lets the nut and fruit lead. Around the mid teens the malt gains a fuller nutty depth over the citrus. Refill oak lets the clean, nutty distillery character lead. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986. A workers' village was built nearby in the same striking style. Heat recovery condensers and sub coolers run alongside the purifier stills. The soft water runs through heather and peat and granite before reaching the distillery.
At a hearty 60.6% it carries real weight. A light, nutty fruitiness meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Beneath it run almond, apple and a soft spice. A nutty, gently spiced finish lingers. This is a light, nutty Speyside single malt.
