Description
This official Tormore single malt, a 10 year old release and bottled at 43%. Set near Grantown-on-Spey in Speyside, Tormore has distilled since 1960. Purifiers on the spirit stills keep the spirit light and clean.
It was worked through swan neck stills with purifiers, for the light, clean, nutty make Tormore is known for. A refill American oak cask held it, keeping the clean character to the fore. At this age the spirit is fresh and nutty, the apple and citrus bright. Refill oak lets the clean, nutty distillery character lead. The architect Sir Albert Richardson gave it a grand, ornamental design unlike any other distillery. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986. A workers' village was built nearby in the same striking style. Heat recovery condensers and sub coolers run alongside the purifier stills. The soft water runs through heather and peat and granite before reaching the distillery.
At 43% it is soft, nutty and clean. Apple, citrus and a soft almond meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Soft orchard fruit and nut sit behind the sweetness. The close is clean, nut over orchard fruit. This is a clean, citrussy Speyside single malt.
