A distillery bottling of Tomatin, aged 18 year old from 1990, drawn from cask 16351 and bottled at 58.3%. Only 173 bottles were released. Founded in 1897 high in the Monadhliath hills, Tomatin makes a soft, fruity Highland single malt. Tomatin malt long fed blends such as The Antiquary and The Talisman.

It was distilled from unpeated malt in copper stills on Allt na Frithe water, giving the light, mellow spirit at its heart. It was matured in ex-Bourbon oak, lending vanilla and a soft honey. Mid age brings a deeper honey and a riper orchard fruit. Years in oak round the spirit, the orchard fruit deepening with age. Tomatin stands at over three hundred metres, among the highest in the land. An old cattle drovers' road ran through Tomatin, and whisky was made here long before the distillery. The arrival of the Highland Railway in the 1890s made the distillery possible.

Bottled at a cask strength 58.3%, it is rich. Apple, pear and a soft honey, and honeyed vanilla comes through from the ex-Bourbon. A dried fruit and a soft oak give it depth. Apple, honey and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a mellow Highland single malt from near Inverness.
